About the artist:

I am a print maker and painter, and also make my own paper.

I have a longstanding love of handmade papers, especially Japanese,

and much of my print making is on such papers,  as well as my own.

My work reflects my current every day life – and my thoughts about the

world and my place in it.

I am always exploring evolutions of printing techniques and also subject

matter,  so my work is always changing.  I do like to make a series –

either on a subject, certain shapes,  or colours.

Lately my work has almost all been abstract. But the shapes of natural

objects, especially parts of plants, often occur.

Many of my prints were printed from “plates” made from cutting into

cardboard, or creating cardboard shapes. These are then thinly coated

with etching inks and placed face up on the bed of a heavy press.

Dampened strong paper is positioned carefully over the plate, and a

handle on the press is turned to move the heavy rollers over the bed.

That pressure leaves the print image on the paper. So each one is

individually made.
