About the artwork:

‘Desired Object’ addresses the function of objects in the genre of still life.

An object, once painted is inevitably removed from its original purpose,

yet may continue to retain its associations with its former, practical role.

The set-up within the works juxtaposes differing objects with scenarios

or items unrelated to their function, highlighting their new status as the

attractive, however without role. Reassigned to the ornamental rather

than the functional, this alludes to the ‘role’ of the painting, the rounded

edges coupled with the miniature size of each board blur the boundary

between painting and object.
