Karen Birchmore has fused her training and experience in textile design to her talent as an artist. After a successful
commercial career she is now concentrating on painting. Inspirations from Dungeness, Hastings, Romney Marsh and
also gardens such as Great Dixter and Derek Jarman's have found their way into her work and her use of colour and
texture, mark making and abstract form in her paintings create an evocative impression of a place or scene. 'Freshers',
her first exhibition at Merriecroft, is an exceptional opportunity to enjoy her work in the company of a select collection of
exciting new artists: Emily Pennock; Sophie Layton; and Lisa Hawkins, who have caught the attention of a-c-a over
recent months. Click on any of the images below to start a slideshow display.
