The moving spirit in Cranbrook Art is Kristina Avery. Well known in Cranbrook as a Parish Councillor (now retired after 8
years of service!), her training is as an artist, she studied Ceramics at Kent College of Art, and has successfully sold and
exhibited her ceramic sculptures and art pottery as well as teaching art at Bedgebury School. Kristina has been organiser of
the Cranbrook Art Show since 1993 and carefully vets all applications from artists to be an exhibitor so she can present a
balance of artistic skills and disciplines and strictly maintains a standard of artistic merit that keeps the visitors flooding back
each year.
As a result of her success with this project Kristina was inspired in 2006 to start the Art In Store event and reacting to her now
extensive contact list of artists she is launching the Artists Showcase pages which provide a public face or additional link for
artists from the Weald.
The launch of Avery Contemporary Art is an exciting development for Kristina and in conjunction with opening of gallery at
Merriecroft represents an additional opportunity for local artists to have a year round venue for art display.
We are always interested in making contact with serious artists and art craftspeople - we are constantly on the look out for
new talent, but are also happy to offer advice and encouragement for those seeking direction.
Our interests are broad - encompassing painting, sculpture, photography, ceramic art, bespoke furniture, jewellery
design, and textile art. If you have work that you think would interest us, please do not hesitate to get in touch! Email
